Nigel Mustill has let his Aquila CR1 LS7, aka 'The Yellow Flash', loose in the latest round of the Britcar Series at Castle Combe.
After visiting spa with great success, team Wessex Vehicles was back on known grounds, at their home track, Castle Combe. Like in the previous race the team had prepared the car well, in there attempt to make a great result and managed to acheive this. Again the UK team had a new driver line up and as the result of the race proves: drivers adjust very fast to the car, because of its drive-ability.
The Aquila started the race from 6th on the grid, during the first stint of the race they found the speed, which put Team Wessex in the lead of the race. Unfortunately they lost several positions during a pit stop, putting the team back to 9th position. But again the team showed the speed of the Aquila during the final stint of the race, as they manged to gain back the lost time and ended up in second place as the Chequred flag flew.
Both drivers Gareth Evans, who was new to the car and Nigel Mustill were more than happy with the performance of the car. Getting on the podium of a Britcar race is an extreme performance as the Britcar races host highend GT cars, to achieve this position everything has to be perfect- both the Car and the Team behind it.
The team at Aquila Racing Cars said, 'Well done, and would like to congratulate both the drivers and all involved, at the same time we would like to thank the UK team for once again proving the capabilities of the Aquila CR1 LS7.' At the home of Aquila we are all hoping to see the team beat the track record that they already own at Silverstone, 1:53.250, set during the 2010 Britcar 24 Hour event, when they make their return to the Britcar 24. Besides the possibility of an Aquila CR1 making a comeback in the Britcar24 hour at Silverstone, there will also be an Aquila CR1 racing in the 2012 Dubai 24 hour when it kicks off in January, Team Formula has been confirmed to be on the start grid of the 2012 event in a new CR1 LS7.
